Kyocera Finecam Digital Cameras - Rtune Technology
Rtune technology speeds up taking photos with digital cameras.

RTune Technology offers advanced digital camera featuresWhat is Kyocera Rtune Technology?
Rtune Technology is a unique enhancement that has been developed by Kyocera to eliminate the shortcomings of the previous generation of digital cameras over their mechanical predecessors.

While digital cameras have many advantages over standard film based cameras, they often are not completely ready to take a picture when they are first turned on. Even when they are ready, the camera can take a second or two to process the image. Rtune has been developed to eliminate these issues.

How does it work?

When you take a picture using a digital camera, the light coming into the camera is analogue and needs to be converted into digital so it can be stored in digital memory. The camera also needs to adjust the RGB, (Red, Green, Blue), to compensate for parts of the picture that are either too light or too dark, and so be able to give you the best quality pictures. A standard digital camera adjusts the RGB after it has converted the image from analogue to digital, which means there is a delay between the time it takes to take a picture, and to storing it in your memory.

With Rtune technology the camera adjusts the RGB automatically before it converts the picture you have taken into a digital image. This means the camera can process images very quickly. Most digital cameras have a buffer, which allows you to take a few pictures while it is waiting to process the earlier ones. As soon as the buffer is full, your camera will only let you take pictures at a very slow speed. Not very good if you are afraid of losing that perfect picture moment. Assuming you have a fast enough memory card, Kyocera cameras using Rtune Technology, are so fast at processing images, that their buffers never become full!

RTune technology enables faster digital camera operation

The diagram above illustrates how a Kyocera camera compares to a standard digital camera. As you can see, the standard camera is not only slower at taking the first group of pictures, but as soon as its buffer is full, it cannot take anymore until it has processed the earlier ones. This does not happen with the Kyocera Rtune camera, which keeps snapping away at a much faster rate.

How does this help me?
Simply put, if you are using a Kyocera camera with Rtune technology, your camera will not experience slow downs while processing images because it processes them so quickly! In fact, assuming your digital camera memory is fast enough, the buffer of the camera will never become full and you can take up to 3.3 pictures a second. So, if you want to capture the perfect moment, just hold down the button, take a whole host of pictures and then delete the ones you don't want. You'll never be concerned about missing a great picture opportunity again!

Which Cameras support Rtune?
All the Kyocera cameras we sell at System Insight, have the Rtune technology built into them. Only Kyocera Finecam Cameras use the Rtune technology.

Which Digital Camera Memory will I need?

Kyocera cameras will use any speed of SD memory and are still fast at taking pictures when used with our Standard SD Memory Card range. However, when the camera's buffer is full, (after 6-7 pictures), the camera can only take pictures as fast as it can write to the memory. To take full advantage of Kyoceras Rtune technology, we recommend using High Speed Ultra II SD Memory Cards or faster, so the camera will not be limited to how fast it can write to its card. Check when buying your camera from us, as it may already be supplied with a fast memory card.
