Photo Printers Compared
Since 2001, Hi-Ti have had a portable photo printer range available at a realistic price. Three years later in 2004, sees Epson and HP coming into the market with their offerings; this comparison shows you, the customer, what they are really like.
The main difference between Hi-Ti and Epson and HP's offerings is the technology used. Hi-Ti use a dye sublimation process, whereas Epson and HP use Inkjet technology. Both systems will enable you to print good photos, but the Dye Sublimation process will produce proper photo quality images.
All of the offerings can be used stand alone or connected to a PC, although in use, some printers are easier to use than others.

The Hi-Ti 631 is the only model that allows the user to see the image they want to print on the device itself; this saves the need to print a contact sheet just to decide which images to print. The comparison table below shows some of the main features and how each model stacks up.

The HP & Epson printers use an inferior print technology when it comes to photo quality, the results were good, but didn't have the long lasting qualities of a dye sublimation printer.
